THE DAY THAT TURNS YOUR LIFE AROUND…

I recently heard a You tube video with Jim Rohn and he had a clip entitled, “The Day That Turns Your Life Around.”  For any of you that have not heard it, I will share his wisdom and the actual video.  Jim Rohn was mentor to Tony Robbins, inspirational speaker and motivator.

Here are 4 words that can turn your life around:

  1. DISGUST – I’ve had it!  E N O U G H – you have hit your you know what level.
  2. DECISION MAKING – Time to clean up a list of decisions.  You make lists, you study the opportunities and now it’s time to actually take action.
  3. DESIRE – Wanting something bad enough.  You hear a song, a sermon, a conversation with a friend that makes you think.  When we have our walls down, we can then welcome all experiences.  It starts with desire.
  4. RESOLVE – Say I will do it and actually do it.  Promising yourself that you’ll never give up.  You don’t give up until it makes sense to give up.

When you don’t allow to let go of your past, it creates barriers and walls for your future.

Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.

Jim Rohn

HOW WE ASK = WHAT WE GET

thumbnailCA2V653M 150x150 HOW WE ASK = WHAT WE GETHello Girlfriends – Tony Robbins (American self-help author and motivational speaker) stated, “We limit ourselves to our true potential.  We are afraid to ask for too much in life.  We have a sense of guilt to want it all so in turn we settle.  We settle for less pay, we settle for mediocracy, we settle for the so-so relationships.

THE QUESTION HERE IS, “WHAT ARE WE ASKING, AND ARE WE SPECIFIC IN WHAT WE ARE ASKING?

DO WE ASK WITH LIMITED BELIEFS?

DO WE ASK WITH UNCERTAINTY?

DO WE ASK KNOWING THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO REALLY GET IT?

-OR-

DO WE ASK WITH CONVICTION!

DO WE ASK WITH CERTAINTY!

DO WE ASK KNOWING IT’S COMING OUR WAY!

It’s how we ask and what we believe that opens up the universe to start working in our favor.  I want to share a story of a homeless man.  I was walking home one evening and I was quickly being approached by this homeless man.  As he was approaching me, I thought, “Well what do I do?”  I don’t like to give the homeless cash for I’m not sure if they will buy much needed food with it.  The other voice inside me said, “Who am I to judge on what he’ll do with the money for in giving we receive.”  So he asked like I thought he would, “Do you have a quarter?”  Whatever can he do with simply a quarter I thought?  So I gave him exactly what he asked for – A QUARTER!

YOU SEE LIFE WILL PAY WHATEVER PRICE YOU ASK OF IT!

So why not ask BIG and for exactly what you want?

–Think BIG and Ask BIG—

The late Jim Rohn who was mentor to Tony Robbins stated that we ask these questions to ourselves:

“WHY – WHY NOT- WHY NOT YOU – WHY NOT NOW!”

We are made in the image of GOD and our creator obviously thought BIG – He moved mountains, created oceans and made each one of us unique and different.  We so often want to stay in our boxes and think we can’t ask for too much.  We can’t ask too many questions, in fear of appearing unknowing.  We can’t laugh too much for we risk appearing the fool.  To reach out to another is to risk involvement.  To love is to risk being loved in return.  To try at all is to risk failure.  But risk we must, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

Use your imagination and ask away – ask with conviction and ask with belief in knowing there is power in the unspoken word.  Sit back and be in WONDER and AMAZEMENT……Enjoy the possibilities of the greatness of our DIVINE!

When GOD has a plan for you that’s BIGGER than you – no one….and I do mean NO ONE can stop you……

Stay focused and think BIG!

Remember, may the possibilities of today excite you!

YOU CAN’T SOLVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MIND THAT CREATED IT….

Hello Girlfriends – change your thoughts and watch how your life changes.

Albert Einstein quoted, “you can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”

We can create all sorts of problems for ourselves in life.  Most of these problems stem from thinking life is greener on the other side – until you get to the other side, and you find out you didn’t have it so bad.  In the process of discovering what the other side has to offer is where the problems are created.  All the decisions we make and have made in our past are what shapes us to who we are today.  Like Albert Einstein stated, “you can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”  So in turn we must change our thoughts and change our minds.

Personal breakthroughs happen when we change our core beliefs – so how do we change our core beliefs?

  • Question old beliefs – do they serve you anymore and where did they come from?
  • The habit of the same thoughts is repetition like riding a bike -awareness of changing our
         thought pattern is key
  • It’s not CAN you but WILL you?
  • Living in your truth and not what others feel should be your truth

Eckhart Tolle states, “if I no longer inflict suffering on myself, I won’t inflict suffering on others – for the two go together.”  If you put your thoughts on what always has been – whatever has been will always show up in your life.

Manifestation = Visualization + Emotion x Repetition

Here is another quote by one of my favorite singers – Willie Nelson - (yes, I can get crazy like that by having Eckhart Tolle and Willie Nelson on the same page – it spices up life)…

“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”

Think of your past as the wake of a boat – the wake is a trail left behind – present moment energy is driving the boat – can a trail that is left behind make the boat go forward?  You see as you live in the present moment you are in the driver seat and are steering the boat called life.

Once we change our thoughts we can actually watch how our life changes.

mind 150x133 YOU CANT SOLVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MIND THAT CREATED IT....

Carl Jung stated, “our most important problems cannot be solved, they must be outgrown.  We have to grow up.”  This statement allows me to see that we must get out of the victim roles.  Growing up to actually know who we are and living in the truth of who we are.  Accepting ourselves and keeping our dreams alive; growing up each day to knowledge, to be open to change and become better people for ourselves first and then for the world.

COMFORT ZONE REMOVAL (CZR) AND PROCRASTINATION…..

Hello Girlfriends – My girlfriend Kim Jensen gave me the inspiration to write on procrastination and the comfort zone.  Kim is part of “The Women of Facebook” group inspired by Nathalie Villeneuve, Kim posted; “Isn’t it funny how sometimes we RUN from our desires?  I find myself procrastinating the simplest things just because it’s a little uncomfortable.”  And I replied something to this manner – time for CZR – Comfort Zone Removal.

Please know Kim that this blog is not intended towards you or your thoughts at that moment, but you were the inspiration for my thoughts….I am in gratitude to you my friend, because isn’t it a beautiful thing when a “girlfriend” triggers our thinking…..

We can write down goals all day long…..

It’s like writing a recipe for a cake, putting it in order is the second part and the third part is baking the cake.  So, many of us write down the recipe.  The idea of this delicious cake tickles our brain, and we can even imagine what it tastes like.  We are excited about one day making this cake and we can even envision ourselves eating the cake.  The problem is not in our imagination for it is vast, but it’s in execution of the plan.  The law of attraction states: THINK, BELIEVE and ACHIEVE.  Notice that ALL these words require ACTION!

I’m going to get a little scientific here, which required me to do some research and for those who know me, I love RESEARCH!  This is what I discovered.  We have 2 parts of our brain memory system – the explicit memory and the implicit memory.

Explicit Memory

This is the part that gets us excited about our dreams, we talk about it, we put them on our dream boards.  The explicit memory is a type of long term memory, which requires CONSCIOUS thought – such as recalling who came to dinner last night, or naming animals that live in a zoo.  It’s what most people have in mind when they think of “memory,” and whether they have a good one or bad one.  This memory is often associative; so when you think of the ocean you think of a family vacation, you think about the long walks you’ve had on the beach with a loved one, or you may recall the healing powers of the water.  Okay enough on explicit memory, I think you get the point.

and now,

Implicit Memory

This part of the memory hangs out on the opposite side of explicit.  Implicit memory does not require conscious thought.  Examples are putting on your makeup, driving a car, walking, washing dishes (even though we want to sometimes forget that there are dishes to be washed).  This memory isn’t always easy to verbalize since it flows effortlessly in our actions.

Now stay with me on this……

Thought energy is believed to travel faster than the speed of light.  The key is to match up your conscious goals of what you want to achieve, with the subconscious goals. This is when there is coherence between your goals, your visions and your dreams.  When they don’t line up there is chaos within your own system, and when there is chaos we revert back to what we know, and that’s our comfort zone.  I have heard it described as having a radio, and you have the radio in between stations, so you can hear part of one station and alot of the other station – this is the message that you are sending out to the universe.  The key is to getting coherence pattern in the sub-conscious level which takes a little more time then sitting down and writing your goals.

NOW – where do we go from science?  We go right into reality -

PROCRASTINATON GETS IN THE WAY

So, when our excitement about our dreams and aspirations are there, what can possibly get in the way?  Yes, you got it – The dreaded word – PROCRASTINATION!

Well the good news is that you’re not alone – Statistics show that procrastination affects over 20% of the population; actually I was surprised by this low number!

HERE’S THE PLAN

We must identify the causes of procrastination and use strategies to overcome it.  Psychologists define procrastination as the conscious or subconscious avoidance of doing something, and if its effects are neglected enough, it becomes a habit that is extremely difficult to get rid of.

Procrastination is caused by a number of things.  Two of the possible causes may be FEAR and confusion.  So the good news is that if you tend to procrastinate, you have to modify your behavior.  In reality, accomplishments won’t come to you if you keep putting things off.  Why would we want to delay our dreams or projects that we may be working on?  We only have today (in reality – this moment)…..  We all have choices, either to succumb to procrastination or stand up and change your way of thinking and your behavior.  Doing this requires a HUGE amount of will power, dedication and determination.  We all have WILL POWER, so why not use it – let’s not have it go to waste…. for it is a precious gift!

ACTION LEADS TO REWARDS

There are many reasons for procrastination.  It’s when our procrastination leaves us feeling discouraged and overburdened, that is the time to take action and get out of our COMFORT ZONE – it’s time for CZR – COMFORT ZONE REMOVAL .  Action does lead to rewards.  So, as you consider your procrastination and struggle to develop different work habits be gentle with yourself.  Punishing ourselves each time we put something off won’t help you change.  REWARDING yourself when you make progress will!thumbnailCA61XKSX 150x150 COMFORT ZONE REMOVAL (CZR) AND PROCRASTINATION.....

WHY DO WE REMAIN IN OUR COMFORT ZONE?

  1. Fear of Failure
  2. Fear of Success
  3. Fear of autonomy – “You can’t make me do this”
  4. Basically FEAR

Whether these fears appear in our explicit or implicit memory, they paralyze us and keep us from taking action!

TIME TO CHALLENGE OUR MYTHS AND GET OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE – TIME FOR CZR

  1. Ask for help – Get help from people that support you.  Remember, that’s why we have our girlfriends.
  2. Get unblocked – Step out of your comfort level and make yourself do things that may be out of your comfort zone.  I recently did a teleseminar with 2 other ladies and my topic was, “Showing Compassion in the Workplace While Adding More Love to your Life”; the host rated it a 5 out of a 10 – I was thrilled to get a 5 out of a 10 because this was an opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and go into unknown territory.  It’s the topic that took me out of my comfort zone.  If I was to talk about “The Power of Friendship”, I would be back in my zone…..
  3. Make yourself accountable – Set deadlines for yourself for a start, and be accountable to yourself.
  4. Set a time limit – Be reasonable here – don’t set yourself up for failure.

In closing, we all procrastinate at some time or another.  Do yourself a favor and don’t let procrastination get in the way of your dreams, your accomplishments, and in turn from living your life at its full potential.  We only have one life to live, so why not live it at its fullest, with all its hopes and dreams…..

TAKE ACTION FOR THE REWARD IS GREAT!

WHEN YOU HIT A BRICK WALL?????

Hello Girlfriends – Have you ever hit a brick wall?  I’m sure you know how it feels….  Sometimes it may take your breath away and at times it’s a wakeup call.

You possibly can be in a dead end job and wake up asking yourself, “what am I still doing here?”  What are the risks of trying to find another job that may be fulfilling; or better yet start your own business?  To start your own business requires risk – risk requires – faith and trust that you are following your heart.  This is where you have to ask yourself, “Am I pursuing my PASSION?”  This also requires letting go of FEAR

Are you living in a place that you really do not like?  Do you feel as if you have the travel bug but are afraid to get in your car and travel the nation in hopes of finding a place that enhances your life style?  It’s easier said than done to get in your car and travel the nation.  Of course, it requires money and time.  How about saving your pennies and cutting back on a few things in order to allow your dream of travel to come true?  Why not – Because You Can!

Sometimes the brick wall comes in the form of a divorce.  In your eyes, your marriage is moving along nicely, everyone seems happy and then you hear the words – “I’m not in love with you anymore.”  The brick wall!  What do you do now?

  • Go in a corner and cry and cry some more?
  • Live in the pain of what has happened?
  • Or maybe do something positive for yourself?

Sometimes events in your life have no rhyme or reason – take it for what it is.  Surround yourself with girlfriends that care about you.  Get in touch with family members that can lift you up.  In fact surround yourself with BALCONY people.  These brick walls hit all of us at some point in life.  The true question is?

  • How will you handle your brick wall?

I try to take it for what it is and adapt a positive way of living.  How many of us can be truly grateful for our brick walls?  We as a society are thankful for wonderful things that happen but how many can say they are thankful for the not so wonderful? thumbnail1 120x150 WHEN YOU HIT A BRICK WALL?????

When I look at my life – I can say that it is in those hard times – the brick walls that I learned the most about myself.  I had to rely on myself and get acquainted with me.  Remember in order to love others, we must love ourselves first.  These were the times that I hit the brick wall so hard that it literally woke me up from impact.

  • The choice is ours – - – -
  • Are we going to hit the brick wall and have the wall knock us out?
  • Are you going to hit the brick wall and have an “aha” moment?

Remember, may the possibilities of today excite us all – even when we hit the brick wall!

PHYSICAL EXERCISE

Hello Girlfriends – the word “physical” what does it mean to you?  To some it may mean running, sweating, using your muscles.  To others it may mean, walking and not breaking a sweat and to others somewhere in between those two.

I feel that staying fit requires physical activity.  I know it requires time and time is what we all are short of – so instead I will say, it requires us to make the time to include physical activity in our lives.

Even if you don’t belong to a gym – it’s very important to get some type of exercise daily; okay maybe not daily exercise daily but definitely at least 3 to 4 times a week.

Physical exercise needs to be scheduled in our day and make it a priority

  • You schedule time for lunch, you schedule time to get a manicure/pedicure.
  • You schedule time for running to the mall or grocery store
  • Why not schedule time for exercise?
  • Make it part of your routine.
  • Start your day with it, fit it in during your lunch break or end your day with it.

I guarantee once you start to exercise you will feel better in mind and spirit.  Exercise releases endorphins.  Once you get into a regular routine you will want to keep exercise as part of your daily living.  It’s known fact that it takes 21 days to form a habit – so if we start exercising and we do it for 21 days, then it will become a habit.  Take the exercise challenge and let’s make it a priority for our lives.  This is part of feeling well, looking better and once we feel and look better we then feel good about ourselves.

We only have one body, why abuse it?  Instead do something positive – nourish it, take care of it, feel good about yourself.  Why not, Because You Can!thumbnail 150x128 PHYSICAL EXERCISE

If you can’t do it alone, ask a friend to walk or run with you.  For some having a partner to join you makes it more enjoyable – do it together – make a date out of it!

I know for myself about 2 years ago I was 23 pounds over my current weight.  I was not happy with myself when I looked in the mirror, so I did something about it.  I joined a gym; got a personal trainer, ate less and more of the right things and the weight dropped.  I started seeing results within weeks and this was encouraging.  Clothes felt and looked better.  I felt more confident about myself and thus felt better in general.  Now 2 years later, I am maintaining my ideal weight and I watch what I eat.  I indulge at times and exercise during the week.  I am determined to keep the weight off because I care and love myself!

Get Rid of the J-JUNK

Hello Girlfriends – What is the J-Junk, you ask?  I came up with this term today when I was talking about being judged.  I discovered that as a child I was always pegged by my family as the quiet one, the one that would sit and not speak; sweet, angelic little girl.  How many of you also had this label?  To me the J-Junk stands for the “Judgment Junk” that we learn as children.  I learned this type of behavior as I observed my father judging and belittling my mother as I sat and watched my mother being victimized.  Looking back, I realized that I was a very smart little girl.  I learned to stay quiet, in order that I not be judged from my judgemental father.

I spent years fearing the idea of giving speeches in front of my classmates or talking in front of groups.  I didn’t want to be judged!

As I grew older, I didn’t feel comfortable stating how I felt, so I followed the crowd.  I hope you can see how much influence our parents have on us.  We carry tapes of their voices, and even if we move on in other areas of our lives – there can be parts that we don’t realize still have a hold on us.  As an adult, you come to a point where you must speak the truth and claim your truth.

How many of us are afraid to have our own voices in fear of being judged?  Because of fear we remain quiet – who wants to be judged?  Who are you hurting by being quiet, by not living in the truth?  I believe you know the answer – you hurt yourself and no one else.  You must remain true and authentic to self in order to truly live for your purpose in life.thumbnailCAXX2N9D 150x150 Get Rid of the J JUNK

We have to dig deep sometimes and find where those old tapes lie within us?  Who put those tapes there?  Our choice is to either keep them there or realize that these old tapes don’t serve us anymore. It’s time to put them in the trash once and for all and start living in your truth!

“Our ultimate freedom is the right and power to decide how anybody or anything outside ourselves will affect us.” Stephen Covey, author and speaker.

WHAT IS LUCK?????

Hello Girlfriends – Wikipedia defines luck as:  Luck or fortuity is good or bad fortune in life caused by accident or chance and attributed by some to reasons of faith or superstition, which happens beyond a person’s control.

We hear the words, “Good Luck” and “How Lucky You Are”; what does this really mean?  Are we lucky or just at the right place at the right time?  Do random acts of luck happen?  Is it luck when we land a great job – the job we’ve been desiring  for a long time?  Or is it persistence, dedication and hard work?

Wikipedia further states, “Cultural views of luck vary from perceiving luck as a matter of random chance to attributing to luck explanation of faith or superstition.  For example, the Romans believed in the embodiment of luck as the Goddess Fortuna, while the atheist and philosopher Daniel Dennett believes that “luck is mere luck” rather than a property of a person or thing.

Luck 106x150 WHAT IS LUCK?????

Lady Luck or Not - Throw the Dice!

Thomas Jefferson stated, “I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.”  I find these words very wise indeed!

Rasheed Ali wrote in this blog entitled, The Truth about Luck and How to Get It;  http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Truth-About-Luck-and-How-To-Get-It&id=71825

So when something fortuitous happens in your life, are you the first to say it was “LUCK” or was it that you were at the right place at the right time?  Even the lottery winners had to be at the right place at the right time to get those winning numbers.  Even if you picked every number but if you didn’t go play, you had the numbers but never put the action into motion and bought a ticket.  Could that be luck that you decided to go play the lottery and had the machine pick the numbers and each number came out?  Or – were you determined and felt compelled to go play the lottery at that exact time that the machine spitted out the winning ticket???

I feel that being at the right place at the right time is a big part of luck.  Well, maybe hard work, dedication, persistence is part of luck als0?  For now, I say the BEST to YOU and with hard work LUCK will happen!

GO GET WHAT YOU WANT!

Hello Girlfriends – Eleanor Roosevelt stated, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

Challenges are beautiful opportunities in disguise.  Our dreams, our passions, our purposes in life – those opportunities are wanting something so bad, but not knowing how to achieve it.  If we sit back, it usually doesn’t come knocking on our door.  If we believe in what we are doing, we must go out and get it!  The more common is that we have to get out there and make our own way.  This teaches us perseverance.  This takes tenacity, persistence, desire, and determination.  How badly do we want something? I’ve always worked under the influence that if I want it bad enough – I go get it! I don’t like where I live, the job I’m in then do something about it. This indicates a time for a change; time to go to investigate new possibilities.

We must not get complacent and be okay not liking the way we are living, the job we are in, a relationship that is dysfunctional at best.  I believe it’s easier to stay in a situation than change the situation.  Of course, FEAR gets in the way.  FEAR stands for False Evidence Appearing Real.  We get scared of taking the leap of faith and actually jumping to new ground.  A much needed move may be exactly what will transform your life, but we stay stuck in the same place.  Some other reasons of not being able to move on would be children, spouses, jobs. I say it’s time to stop using these people in our lives as excuses.  If we don’t like something bad enough, then we’ll want and desire a change.  We must go out there and find our new possibilities. I assure you that they are out there; it’s our minds that can’t grasp that we can actually do something about it. We limit ourselves to thinking small - it’s time to think BIG! We must get out of our boxes and go play in this vast world that is before us.

determination 150x106 GO GET WHAT YOU WANT!

Desire and Determination WILL take you to new heights

The paradox in life is that we can often stare for so long at the door which has closed; that we can miss a new one that has opened!
